Stella Was a Driver and She Was Always Down by Interpol
This song takes me back to the summer of 2003. I was working the 6am shift at Best Buy stocking music, movies and games while I was still half asleep. Before the store opened, we could listen to the radio or whatever music was available through the in-store kiosk—and one of the few albums I could stomach at that early hour was Turn on the Bright Lights by Interpol. It didn’t make me want to shoot myself or fall back asleep; it was the perfect balance of quiet and upbeat. I miss those hours full of quiet calm, with only my thoughts and Interpol to keep me company.
I do not miss the 4:45am alarm clock.
