A few days ago I went to the midnight show for UP. I will be the first to admit that I am huge Pixar fangirl, but I think the fact that there were several midnight shows playing in Austin and they were all sold out is a testament to the reputation Pixar has built as great story tellers & makers of films that appeal to the young and young at heart (the screening I went to was comprised entirely of 20 & 30-somethings—which I also think says something about Austin movie-goers & the Alamo Drafthouse: we are made of awesome!). There are few films nowadays that can make cry within the first fifteen minutes and have me laughing so hard my side hurts twenty minutes later—but that was my reaction to UP. Sweet, whimsical, sad, touching, hilarious, inspiring and beautiful are just a few adjectives that come to mind to describe Pixar’s 10th (10th? Really? Wow, I feel old) film. I highly recommend seeing it in the theatre and in 3D, if you can. Until then, here a few items to get you in the balloon mood.

There are a few of these available on ebay, but at a kindof ridiculous price point. I am quite happy with the faded, well loved bowl I found, so I’ll just have to keep my eyes peeled for the matching large bowl in local thrift stores or let me know if you see one on etsy, okay?
This lovely piece of whimsy can be bought as either a print or as a jewelry piece! I’m quite fond of the locket, but the seller also has it available as a bracelet.
Timber! Preservation Society has some of the most fantastic folk & woodcut inspired illustrations I’ve come across and this t-shirt is a favorite. But I need another t-shirt like I need another copy of Lord of the Rings, so could someone please buy this & wear it in my name? Thank you.
I love this simple, understated necklace. It could easily be a bouquet of balloons or a bunch of wildflowers.
I now feel like a Pixar movie marathon is needed so I can properly rank my favorites. This will mean another viewing of UP in the coming week or so, but I think I’ll start with my very most favorite, Wall*E. Goodness, it’s a hard life I lead.
